Aerial Mapping 15.3.1 is the process of capturing geographic information through aerial photography and processing that information to produce hard copy photo lab products and/or digital files for various mapping purposes. Aerial mapping and Orthophoto imaging deliverables will be provided to National Map Accuracy Standards and National Standard for Spatial Data Accuracy.
The all-important first step to an aerial mapping mission is establishing the positional accuracy and contour interval required by the client. The intended use of the mapping, whether detailed design or preliminary route studies, will determine the flight altitude, number of photo’s required, and panel layout configuration and density. Low level mapping for detailed design is generally flown at 1,500’ for a photo scale of 1” = 250’ in order to produce mapping at a scale of 1” = 50’ and 1’ contours. |
